WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
SchoolWideRead(SWR) is a teacher-created program fostering critical literacy engagement and school culture r/evolution in educational spaces. Founded by the dynamic educator duo, Zena Robinson-Wouadjou & Vanessa Emile, SchoolWideRead serves middle and high school communities throughout New York City.
The SWR model creates a CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE FRAMEWORK FOR BUILDING a culture of scholarship, communal problem solving & social justice THROUGH SCHOOL WIDE CRITICAL LITERACY ENGAGEMENT. In addition to increasing the reading and writing proficiency of youth in educational spaces, SchoolWideRead offers customized services that address the specific literacy, cultural, social and community engagement needs of youth and adults in each of our partnering schools/ organizations.
